Stockport joins national #ThankATeacher campaign thanking College heroes

We’ve all had a great teacher. They show a real interest in who we are, listen to our thoughts, inspire us to learn and encourage us to achieve our best, no matter what our goals are. The influence of a good teacher lasts a lifetime.

Organised by The Teaching Awards Trust, the annual Thank a Teacher campaign is calling on learners and their families this year to thank the staff who go above and beyond. The support colleges have provided for their local communities has been highlighted by the challenges of the past year, and today’s celebration gives families a chance to show their thanks.

The last year has seen a wealth of stories of teachers making care visits to vulnerable families, coming up with innovative ways of remote teaching, keeping their learners settled by regularly checking in and even using their college sites for Covid-19 testing when classes did return. There has never been a better time to appreciate them and the vital work they do.

James Scott, Principal and CEO of Stockport College commenced #ThankATeacher day with a video to all our teachers, support staff, students and college community.
