Learners celebrate virtual victories at annual Student Awards
Students from Stockport College have taken part in this year‘s virtual student awards.
The second virtual student awards ceremony recognised some of Stockport College’s most exceptional students as voted by their tutors, and included a special video message from College Principal, James Scott along with video award acceptance speeches from some of the outstanding award winners.
While COVID-19 once again unfortunately disrupted plans for the College's time honoured tradition of a glittering annual awards ceremony held in the local community, staff were passionate about celebrating the incredible achievements of students, albeit virtually, after what has been another incredibly challenging year.
Awards were presented across a range of academic and vocational subjects, and included special accolades for overall outstanding student of the year.
Overall Stockport winner, plumbing student Kiarrah Gamble was described as a model student, keen to embrace all of her practical and theory lessons.
Her tutor commented, “Kiarrah is the embodiment of how well women can cross the gender divide in what can be perceived as a predominantly male environment through a combination of sheer hard work and commitment.”
College Principal James Scott commented: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students on their successes over the last year.
“We appreciate that they faced so many challenges during these unprecedented times; all the while remaining fully committed to their studies and making some truly fantastic achievements, despite the many barriers.
“I wish all our students the very best for the future whether that be with a continuation of their studies or moving into their chosen careers.”
