Make Up Students mingle with Celebrities
Three lucky students were plucked from more than 40 applicants to make-over the celebrities and guests at former Coronation Street actress Denise Welch’s charity ball.
Deonne Sullivan, Lexy Mullin and Shona Gibbons put the finishing touches to the glitz and glamourous looks at the Magic Castle Ball at The Principal Hotel in Manchester on Saturday 16th November under the expert guidance tutor Adam Nicholls.
Make Up Tutor Adam Nicholls said: “It’s always great for our make-up students to get real life hands-on experience – so to get a chance to make over stars at Denise Welch’s Charity Ball was the perfect opportunity for some high profile portfolio building. We saw celebrities from Loose Women, Coronation Street, Love Island and Emmerdale.”
Deonne and Lexy study Level 2 Hair and Media Makeup Studies while Shona is on our Level 3 Makeup Artistry course.
Adam, added: “The event provided relevant experience for the learners who mainly want to work within the TV and Film industry. It was great to see them work under pressure and handle high profile clients professionally.”
The fundraiser was for the GEM Appeal, a charity created to raise money for rare genetic disorders affecting children.
Tracy Ann from Beauty City International, which supports the event each year, said: “Denise’s Magic Castle Charity Ball was a perfect opportunity to involve growing talent of make-up artists in and around Manchester, and Stockport College seemed like the perfect fit.”
