College's Celebrate World Skills UK entries
Stockport College and Trafford College both have something to be proud of this year, with more student entries than ever to the World Skills UK final.
Stockport College hosted a special celebratory event for staff and students who took part in the World Skills UK contest which resulted in three medals during the finals.
Stockport student Stephanie Kelly scooped gold and Joely McGahey clinched silver in the nail section thanks to tutoring and guidance from industry professional Jacqui O’Sullivan while Trafford College student Ben Metcalfe won a silver in patisserie and confectionary with expert training from Mark Apsley-Hooper and Carol Brown.
Principal Lesley Davies said: “Competition stretches you. It’s a great career move to take part. You have a higher skills base and your name is everywhere. Thank you to the tutors that made this possible.”
Thanking staff for their extra-curricular support of students, Director of Adult Learning Joan Scott said: “It was so good to recognise everyone’s hard work, commitment and skill level.”
