Stockport College University student designs large scale advertising banner

by india

University Level student Susanna Vosper has been chosen to design the recent college banner on campus.

The aim of the design is to communicate what a vibrant enriching experience Stockport College can provide.

Susanna’s work was chosen and printed in large scale, displayed on the front of the college facing the A6.

“I never would have dreamed 2 years ago starting the course that something like this could happen with one of my designs! I’d like to thank my tutors Paul Allen and Cameron Steward for going beyond the grade to encourage us students to grow and develop in our practice. I have changed and learned so much already, and hope to keep doing so in future.” – Susanna Vosper

Susanna studies our Level 5 Foundation Graphic Design and Illustration course. Students on this exciting hybrid programme gain the necessary knowledge and experience of design principles and fundamentals that underpin the graphic design and illustration practice past and present. Applying creative thinking to real-world design challenges, both in digital and in print – such as this one!

We spoke to Su about her experience:

“We were given a brief to design the panels outside the college but I’d never worked on such a large scale before. However, the tutors coached me bit by bit as are my design could upscale and I started imagining how it would look. It felt both surreal and amazing when my design was chosen to go up!

I came here as a mature student. I’d been wanting to do an art degree course for over 20 years but never quite made it, because of work and family commitments. Stockport College was the most responsive to me individually in terms of helping me to find a way to do the course alongside my existing life.

Students of all ages and backgrounds come here. Despite it being the oldest in the class it’s felt like a really inclusive experience.”

Su hopes to practice as an illustrator once graduating.
