Careers & Work Experience
Learn from industry leaders or volunteer in something you love
No matter the course you've decided to study at Stockport College, you will be supported in gaining work experience to help you develop essential employability skills, such as networking, communication, organisation and creative problem solving. We can also support you with sourcing part-time work so you can build your CV alongside your studies.
As a career college it’s our job to help you land your dream job or career when you leave us to move onto university or into the workplace. Our careers programme poster is a handy way to find out about all of the careers activities you’ll be experiencing at college and our careers and guidance brochure shows how we will support and develop your career while you are with us. More information on careers can be found here, if you have any questions email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Work Experience & Volunteering
In addition to traditional short term work experience, our students will have the opportunity to take part in our Industry Placement Programme, benefiting from 45-60 days with a top employer in the student’s chosen sector, linking what you are learning in the classroom to practical application in the field. Our employer partners are committed to ensuring these placements are beneficial for the individual, building your industry knowledge and personal network in time for you to finish your studies and enter the world of work!
Every course will also have a programme of guest speakers from industry who will visit your classes to share with you their professional experiences and what is important in making yourself a success.
We offer volunteering opportunities for you to gain new experiences, develop team work and communication skills, support your community, and build your CV. We also support an annual charity which is chosen by staff and students at the college where you can be involved in fundraising activities and build your skills.
