Top competitive coaches launch Manchester Cycling Academy
The Manchester Cycling Academy partnership with Trafford College gives post 16-year-olds and mature entrants the chance to study one of the few Sport Cycling and Performance Development BTECs in the UK.
The new qualification, equivalent to two A Levels, will equip learners with the skills they need to succeed on and off the bike in areas such as physiotherapy, nutrition, and strength and conditioning, when it begins at the Trafford College Altrincham Campus in September 2021. The course will cater for all disciplines of cycling including road, track, mountain biking, BMX and cyclocross, taking advantage of the world-class cycling facilities and expertise in the region.

Manchester Cycling Academy was founded by two professionals who have been colleagues and friends for over 20 years. Both Academy Directors have a wealth of experience and know exactly what it takes to be successful in sport and life. They are both passionate about creating a pathway for young riders to be the best that they possibly can be.
Richard Bott - Head Coach
Richard is a lecturer and exercise physiologist at Chester University and is also an elite level cyclist, triathlete and cycling coach, competing on the national and international stage. His years riding in the professional ranks have given him a fantastic amount of experience that he will be able to pass on to riders.
Danielle Riley - Cycling Coach and Mentor
Danielle has inspired hundreds of women in her role as rider leader, bikeability instructor, road, time trial and track cycling coach. A serving Police Officer mentoring new recruits, she is the go to person for young people who need guidance both in cycling and her current day job.
The Academy is supported by a team of expert associates who have a huge amount of experience and knowledge in sport. The associates are drawn from some of the UK’s leading sports Universities and their expert knowledge will ensure that you as a rider receive the very best advice and our team of coaches have the very best of resources at their disposal so they too, can be the very best they can be.
