Do you have a passion for digital media production and creative technologies?
This course is for young creatives looking to explore the fusion of traditional and digital technologies to shape new forms of visual communication. The course is designed to promote key industry skill development for future digital creatives – you will explore emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, Game Design, 2D/3D animation, motion design, 3D modelling & visualisation. These applications can offer immersive interactive experiences that will soon potentially, eclipse established media. The digital media industry now requires artists to understand – and be able to embrace – this speed of change in their creative practice.

The understanding of digital design developed on the course as well as the technical skills acquired will equip you as a digital designer for a careers in games development, virtual reality application design and a variety of roles in the interactive media industry.
Whilst there are no formal examinations – We usde a wide range of assessment methods throughout the course. You will also be encouraged to assess and evaluate your own progress and the work of others as part of your studies. The course values the ability to reflect on learning and to use assessment as a tool to improve and get better. You will receive regular verbal and written feedback throughout the year culminating in key assessment points when summative* feedback in provided.
*Summative assessment is where you recieve a mark for your work.
You will be awarded a Foundation Degree that is an internationally recognised qualification and the equivalent of Level 4 and 5 of an Honours Degree. On successful completion you will have the option of leaving to begin employment or continuing with us in the University Centre to top up your studies to Level 6 on the BA Hons Contemporary Creative Practice.
You might be expected to visit events as part of your studies that would sometimes require extra cost. There is an annual residential to an International desitnation which whilst not compulsary is strongly recommended. Previous destinations have included Berlin, Krakow, Budapest, Barcelona and New York. Additional equipment will be required to store your digital work e.g. Hard drives, as well as stationary to record your development work such as drawing pads and drawing equipment. We will endeavour to keep the extra cost to a minimum and some of the purchased items could be at discounted cost. This will be explained in more detail to you at interview.
The course fee for Year 1 is £8,000 and the fee for Year 2 is £6,995.
