Mandatory Units

Planning, Delivery and Assessment
The planning for teaching, learning and assessment is a core undertaking for teacher trainers and through this module your new skills will allow you to demonstrate areas of your practice such as deciding on the best methods of delivery and assessment to ensure progress of your learners.
Managing Behaviour
This module examines factors, strategies and procedures that impact on the behaviour of learners and the theory of behaviour management. Trainee teachers will consider the most appropriate approaches to a number of observed behaviours in order to facilitate a safe and inclusive teaching environment.
Equality and Diversity
Having a good understanding of the skills, attributes and qualities expected of a teacher in a dual professional role and how you can promote equality and value diversity in practice will be key to your new role. It will also provide you with a solid grounding and understanding both inside and outside the classroom that relates to valuing all learners and their differences.
Managing Resources and your Specialist Area
This project enables you to explore your own specialist subject area with regards to its philosophy, structure, teaching, learning, assessment and resourcing. It gives you the opportunity to liaise with others in your curriculum and research your specialist area of teaching in terms of continuing education and professional practice in order for you to review the effectiveness of your own practice.
Evaluating Quality of Learning Programmes
This project enables you to gain a deeper understanding of educational policy and quality assurance procedures and practices.
The module is predominantly based around research. You will conduct research into the policies, codes of practice and guidelines of your organisation. You will also research your stakeholders in order to gather feedback and suggest improvements. In addition to this you will explore how educational policy directly impacts on your practice and evaluate your research and discuss where improvements can be made from data you have collected.
