The BTEC Higher National qualifications in Building Services Engineering –Electrical pathway is aimed at students who are looking to develop their career as a Building Services Engineer. Candidates are generally already working in technician roles “on the tools and this programme supports student’s development towards design, installation and management roles within the sector. Optional units are offered to support both electrical and mechanical Building services engineers.
Mechanical includes Heating, Ventilation, refrigeration,air conditioning and plumbing while Electrical pathway covers services for domestic,commercial and industrial building.”

This qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.
The Level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate provides a solid grounding in construction and the built environment, vendor accredited certification and Professional Body membership, upon which students can build, should they decide to continue their studies beyond the Certificate stage. For example the Level 5 BTEC Higher National Diploma allows students to specialise by committing to specific career paths and progression routes to a top-up at Level 6.In addition, the qualifications may provide links to industry-related and employer-supported apprenticeship schemes that can provide further opportunities for enhanced employability.
