The purpose of a Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science and Technology is intended to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to progress to qualifications in a science or technology related area at a higher level or to employment in a science or technology related area.

Science & Pharmacy

You will need a Grade 3 in GCSE Mathematics and English language.

The course content will involve:

Scientific knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Laboratory & Investigative skills
Digital skills and how they are used in a modern scientific community

Chemistry and the Earth (Mandatory)
Energy and the Earth (M)
Biology and the Earth (M)
Science in the World (Optional)
The Living Body (O)
Applications of chemical substances (O)
Applications of physical science (O)

The majority of students will move on to the Level 3 Applied Science course offered at Trafford College.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to support progression to further learning, but for some learners it could lead
to an entry-level job role in a science or technology setting such as a laboratory assistant, or to a role as an apprentice,
e.g. a science technician, electronic service technician or process operative.

Portfolio of work including examinations, written and practical assignments.

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
