With a range of units written to inspire and support your journey into art, design and media, this course introduces you to the skills needed to succeed.
In art sessions you’ll be introduced to:
– Drawing techniques
– Mixed Media and 3D
In media, you’ll learn about how to use equipment to film and edit video products. You’ll also learn about further training and employment in the relevant industries.
This course takes place within our £23 million redevelopment the Art and Design and Media Building, with state of the art facilities.
Industry Standard Facilities include:
Creative Media suites equipped with latest Mac technology and industry software
Photography studios and dark room
TV studio with green screen, cameras, and lighting
Ceramic and 3D studios
Garment construction fashion and textiles
Print room – screen printing, exposure bed, lazer cutting and risograph
Art studios and exhibition area
This course gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of creative skills with a view to progressing to the Level 2 Photography and Graphics, Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media. You will explore art and design, media and employability on this course.
Although the course is mainly practical, you will also work on research projects based on companies and organisations within the Art and Media Industries. Assessment is continuous throughout the course with all practical work being recorded for marking purposes.
This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
