Course Overview

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to provide a wide range of creative make-up services in media, theatre, and fashion and photographic settings.
Learners will also style and fit hair pieces and apply false eyelashes as well as understand the related cosmetic science that underpins the subject. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.

Hair & Media Make-up

You need to have successfully completed the Level 3 Media Make-Up programme.

Minimum of 4 GCSE C grades or above, including English and maths.

You must have an interest in the make-up industry and must demonstrate an ability to communicate and follow the professional standards set by the awarding bodies.
You must be prepared to study the complete study programme, this includes maths and English and employability, enrichments and tutorials.

This course is for anyone who wishes to work in the film industry, television or theatre.
This course will enable you to gain more advanced practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Hair, Special Effects including prosthetics and bald caps and Media Makeup to all aspects of the media industry.
The course will enable you gain employment in the Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Industry.
There are opportunities for a Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Artist to find employment in a variety of areas including Hair and make-up studio, Production companies, Theatre companies, Media and TV/Film. This course is also a direct route for any makeup artist wanting to extend their knowledge into Univeristy at degree level.

Level 2 Diploma’s in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Specialists or Nail Treatments.

Synoptic Assessment.
Graded Assessments. Pass; Merit; Distinction and Distinction*
External Exams.
As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format.

Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:
Observed work
Witness statements
Audio-visual media
Evidence of prior learning or attainment
Written questions
Oral questions
Case studies

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
