Course Overview

This course is designed to better your understanding of the principles of building construction, how to produce thin joint masonry and building solid walls as well as isolated and attached pillars. You will develop good health and safety practices, learn how to interpret technical drawings, set out masonry structures and construct cavity walls to form masonry structures – all whilst learning to work with other trades.

Course Requirements

To have successfully completed Level 1 Bricklaying.

What you will Learn

You will learn, develop and practise a variety of skills to enable you to build, repair and maintain brickwork.

Assessment

4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

Progression

Successful completion of this qualification will provide you with the knowledge and skills required for either progression into employment or onto a Level 3 Bricklaying Course.

Career Options

Obviously you could be a bricklayer, from which you could then specialise in a particular type of bricklaying like heritage work or stonemasonry. Also, down the line, you could even become a construction site manager.
