Course Overview

The first year of the course is the Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, with a second year top-up Extended Diploma. The course will further develop your specialist skills in your chosen area (fine art, illustration, graphic design, textiles/fashion, 3D or photography), in readiness for higher level study or training. Throughout the year, you will develop a portfolio of art/design work to show your expertise in a specific discipline to assist your progress in house or externally onto HE programmes or related employment.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

You will have the opportunity to investigate the many fields within the creative industry, like art and design, fashion, and illustration.You will learn to open yourself up to your creative side through a variety of individual and group projects, building your collaborative skills, as well as your ability to work independently

Assessment

Having completed Units 1-9 on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be:

Internally assessed for Units 10, 11 and 12
Extenally assessed for Unit 13

Your work will be finally assessed (by the course team) and externally moderated (by the UAL examiners) at the end of the academic year against the assessment and grading criteria for those units.

Progression

A range of FdA or BA Design & Visual Art Degrees at the University Centre Stockport College or other institutions, or employment in the Visual Arts.

Career Options

There are many career opportunities following tbis course, including digital designer, sketch artist, painter, architect, product designer, and sculptor.
