Generation Aviation Open Event: Airport Academy

by india

The UK Government has launched a new recruitment scheme, Generation Aviation, aimed at encouraging the next generation of young people to kick-start a rewarding and exciting career in the aviation sector.

The scheme has been launched at Heathrow, with several events following this including at Manchester Airport’s Academy.

On Monday, we hosted our first Generation Aviation Open Day at our Airport Academy, with fantastic support from employers Manchester Airport Group, Dnata Travel and Jet2.

Neil Robinson, Group CSR and Airspace Change Director at Manchester Airports Group, said “Events like this one at the Airport Academy will play a crucial role in supporting the Government’s Generation Aviation scheme, and we will continue to work closely with Ministers to maximize that support.”

Matthew Bowden, Relationship Manager at Ingeus, said: “I work for Ingeus and we are a primary provider of DWP employability initiatives supporting people into work. I came to the event with the intention of making contact with the Academy and connecting with employers, and with the aim of developing relationships that would garner development and work opportunities for our programme participants. I am very happy to say that my trip did just that. The morning was brilliantly organised and went smoothly throughout. The speakers were great and informative and the opportunities were first-class, varied and abundant. I made some great employer contacts and even a DWP contact who I hope will help me to overcome an issue I have been trying to solve for quite some time. Overall, a huge success! Thank you so much for the invitation, I cannot speak highly enough of the work done by the Airport Academy and Trafford College Group on this occasion.”

Julie Garfield, Local Integration Lead at Ingeus said: “It was a pleasure attending the event which I felt was managed well. Good to hear the great opportunities that the employers have on offer and that they were available for any questions/support required.”
