Not everyone enjoyed school and what was a struggle then, may not be so much of a struggle now. For many career routes it’s often necessary to have at least English and maths GCSE’s at C (4) or above.
Retaking your GCSEs as an adult can be a challenge, you may have been out of learning for a long time and lost a lot of the skills and knowledge gained when you were at school. If you’re aged 19 and over and don’t already hold an English or maths GCSE grade 4 (C), you can study for your GCSE or Functional Skills qualification with us here at Stockport College.
GCSE English & maths
If you have a Grade 3/D at GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 you can apply for GCSE Maths or English at Trafford College.
If you do not have a Grade 3/D at GCSE or a Level 2 in Functional Skills then you need to apply for Functional Skills Maths or English to progress to GCSE.
We have courses to suit everyone who wants to learn English or improve their English. We prepare learners to progress into employment, further study, citizenship and to get more out of life in the UK. Our ESOL courses build confidence in speaking English as well as developing skills in reading and writing.
You must be 19+ to study on this course. Adults interested in an ESOL course at Stockport College will complete an initial assessment to find out the current level of English for speaking, listening, reading and writing. This tells us the areas you need to develop and how much support you will need to progress to a further level.
Part-time ESOL programmes are available at Stockport College, with classes offered on weekday daytime's and evenings.
Fit around you
