Art & Design Level 3 Diploma

Course Overview

Our UAL approved course is aimed at artists and designers of the future, who want to develop their drawing skills and experimentation with art and design techniques to make them a better artist. You will learn how to research, plan, produce and reflect on your work. You also cover painting and printmaking (2D), Sculpture and 3D design, Time-Based Media (Photography, Animation, Photoshop, Graphics) and Textiles/ Fashion, to give you an all-round understanding of the industry.

Course Requirements

Applicants must have five GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 including a creative subject and English. A merit grade for Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design with GCSE English is also accepted.

Course Skills & Benefits

On this specialist one year Diploma qualification (equivalent to one and a half A levels) you will complete 9 units, which will introduce you to the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to explore their creative development through a wide range of subjects.

The Diploma in Art and Design offers an accredited and certificated ‘jumping off point' at the end of year one, should students choose not to progress onto our Extended Diploma qualification.

If you choose to continue onto the second year of study, you will complete a further 4 units, which will increase the qualification to a full Extended Diploma in Art and Design, which is equivalent to 3 full A levels.

Course Progression

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

Course Assessment

Units 1 - 7 and unit 9 of the Diploma in Art & Design will be internally assessed and internally moderated against the assessment criteria for those units.

Unit 8 will be internally assessed, internally and externally moderated against the assessment and grading criteria for those units.

Course Finance

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
