You will learn hand fitting, machining, electrical and electronic skills using lathes and milling machines. This course provides a good foundation for your future career. If you have already completed Level 1, this course will develop your knowledge and skills using the machines and build on key components in mechanical engineering.
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English and maths.
You will learn the fundamental skills and knowledge common to all engineering practices, including health and safety requirements and communicating engineering information.

Using and communicating technical information
Wiring and Testing Electronic Equipment and Circuits
Level 3 AME, EAL Engineering Technologies with a Grade 5 in maths is a requirement. The Performing Engineering Operations at Level 2 qualification forms a major component of the Engineering Apprenticeship Framework, so you could progress into the workplace and complete the Level 2 Tech Certificate or a Level 3 EAL Work Based Qualification.
You will be continually assessed through observation, practical and written assessment techniques.
This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
