Level 3 Beauty Therapy

Course Overview

The programme consists of the following subjects
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Monitoring Health and Safety
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Promote and sell products and services to the client
- Provide body massage
- Provide facial electro therapy
- Provide body electro therapy
- Provide electrical epilation
- Work experience/placement

The section also offers the opportunity to visit exhibitions and enter, regional and national, competitions.
Requirements: Wear professional uniform as recommended by the college; maintain a high standard of
personal hygiene. Be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive all treatments.
Excellent attendance is required (100% expected). Remove all jewellery, including facial piercing (in line with
awarding body requirements) short nails without nail polish, is also a requirement. Hair must be well groomed
and worn up if long.

Special facilities for the programme: Beauty treatment rooms open to the public offer realistic working
environments. A full range of facial and body electrotherapy equipment, provides experience of current
Industry trends. A vocational Learning Centre offers access to IT resources.

Course Requirements

5 GCSEs at grades A* - C including maths and English at grade 4 / C plus a level 2 certificate or diploma in a
related subject

Course Progression

Successful students may progress into employment and/or onto the following programmes: Reflexology;
Sports Therapy; Spa Management Course; Level 4 Diploma in Management Practice and Advanced Techniques
in the Beauty Sector; Make-up Artistry; Degree in Beauty Therapy; Degree in Complimentary Therapy; L3
Diploma in Spa and Body Management; L3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies

Course Assessment

Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills, oral questioning, written tests and assignments. On
successful completion of the course you will achieve City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Students
yet to attain grade C in English and maths will work towards qualifications in these subjects, which are essential
in preparing them for progression onto higher level study and /or employment.

Course Finance

The course fees for academic year 19/20 are £3300.00

Additional Costs

Extra costs involved: Students will need a professional salon uniform, comfortable black flat black ballet style
shoes and pay a consumable fee of approximately £40.Beauty treatment rooms open to the public realistic
working environments. A vocational Learning Resource Centre offers access to IT facilities.
