HNC Computing

Course Overview

This programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills that are essential for success in the current and future computing industry sector. You will recieve expert technical support in modern classroom settings, studying a broad range of computing topics that give you an overview of this demanding and exciting industry.

This is a fast growing area of computing due to the digital world we now live in. The Open University Business Barometer reports that "63% of UK organisations are currently experiencing a shortage of digital skills" so this is a great time to be studying in this area.

Careers such as web design and development, database administrator, programmer, applications developer, software engineering all become possible.

Course Requirements

All applications will be considered individually however offers will usually be based on:
64 UCAS points at A Level in relevant subject(s)
BTEC Level 3 qualification (2 years) in relevant subject
4 GCSEs at grade C or above (or numeric score of 4/5 under newly reformed GCSE grading) which must include Maths and English.
An Access to Higher Education Diploma in relevant area
Other related Level 3 qualifications
Related work experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications

Successful applicants who do not have GCSES in Maths and /or English at Grade C (Or equivalent) will be offered the opportunity to undertake that qualification whilst on their Higher Education course. Applicants should be aware that progression on to Level 6 top up programmes may not be possible without the GCSE Passes.

Course Assessment

A mixture of assessments will be used throughout the course such as coursework, demonstrations, presentations.

Upon successful completion of the first year of the course you will receive a Level 4 HNC in Computing
