Beauty Students Host Exclusive Pamper Events for Carers of Stockport’s Autism Support Group

by Jonathan Harper

Hair & Beauty students at Stockport College had the amazing opportunity to put their studies into practice with an exclusive pamper event for AutiSK.

Stockport’s Autism and Disability Support Group, AutiSK, is a thriving local charity that offers social groups, advice and workshops for families who have children with additional needs. Having received several local awards for their community contribution, including the Community Champions Award and Stockport Homes Star Award, the carers at AutiSK do an excellent job at providing a fun, caring and comfortable environment for the children to connect with others in the community.

Stockport College’s beauty students set up the pamper event at Adswood Community Centre, where they offered a range of professional beauty treatments for parents and carers, including: facials, manicures, hairstyling and makeup looks. The students showed a high level of professionalism throughout, working hard to provide carers with the best service whilst also gaining the experience of a realistic working environment where they could attend to clients with different needs and ages.

Adam Nicholls, Hair and Beauty Lecturer at Stockport College said: “It’s fantastic that we have been able to support AutiSk and provide much-deserved downtime to the parents and carers who use the service. This event is a perfect example of how the community links throughout Stockport and Greater Manchester continue to provide invaluable industry experiences for our students”.
