The College appreciates that this is a difficult and confusing time, but its priority remains the health, safety and wellbeing of its students and staff. To support the ongoing education of our students we have produced a number of frequently asked questions in relation to library services available during this period of virtual learning.

Can I still get support from the library team whilst studying from home?
Yes, we’re all working from home too. We provide Help Desk support Monday - Friday between 9:00am and 4:30pm.

My books are due back, what should I do?
Don’t worry! We will auto renew your books until the library reopens – you will not incur any fines.
I need a library book for my assignment, can I still borrow a book?
As all our libraries are closed until further notice you can’t borrow a physical book.
You still have access to over 6000 eBooks that can be accessed 24/7 online. Look on the MiLibrary tab of your Moodle page or on the Library Catalogues

How do I access Library resources from home?
Go to the College website and click Moodle; both Stockport College and Trafford College Libraries have a Moodle Course.
On there you will be able to access - resources, the catalogue and other resources including referencing help
– you will need your college username and password.
Your college username is on your ID card it may look something like this - SMI12345678 or 19001234. Just check your college ID card.
My password is not working
Please contact your tutor in the first instance who will be able to help.
How do I access Teams?
You will need your college email address and password to log onto Microsoft Office 365.
What is my College email address and how do I use it?
Go to www.office.com and login with your college email and the password you use to login to the computers in College. Your email uses your college ID number which is on your college ID card it may look something like this SMI12345678 or 19001234.

Can I recommend an ebook for the library to buy?
Yes, if there is an ebook that you would like us to buy, please email the details to firstname.lastname@example.org. We may not be able to get it, as it may not be available as an eBook or it may be prohibitively expensive, but we will try our best to get a copy.
Can I research using journals or magazines online?
Yes, you can use Search+ to look at thousands of magazine and journal articles. You will need to enter your student ID number and password. There is a link to Search+ on the right-hand side of all Moodle pages.
Can I see what books I have already borrowed?
Yes, you can do this using the online catalogue.
Click on Login/Renew your loans - under the My Library heading, on the right. Type in your ID number and your pin number and click on login. There is a link if you don’t know or have forgotten your pin number. You should now be able to see your loans.
Click on User details on the left-hand side. Type in your ID number, including capital letters at the beginning if you have them, and press enter. You should now be able to see your loans.
I need help with referencing, can you help?
Yes, check our Moodle page for guides on Harvard referencing and APA referencing.

I’m struggling to find information on a topic, can you help?
Yes, we’ve put lots of great resources on your subject Moodle page.
