Dear Parents and Carers,
As advised by the Government, we will do all we can to stay open for learners with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP), an assigned social worker or a child of a key worker (such as NHS, police and delivery drivers). The latest guidance can be found here.
As we have now received the criteria of Key Workers, please use the form below and definitions below to inform us that your child will be attending the College next week.
Key principles to note directly from the guidance:
- If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.
- Many parents working in these critical sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.
- Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.
- Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.
This is an offer to parents and carers and there is no requirement for parents and carers to send their children to College if they do not need or wish to do so.
If workers think they fall within the categories as found below they should confirm with their employer that, based on their business continuity arrangements, their specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service.
All other students will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send students into school from Monday onwards. Also if your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online. The College appreciates that this is a difficult and confusing time, but its priority remains the health, safety and wellbeing of its students and staff.
At this stage, the College is unable to answer all enquiries. As more information is released by the Department for Education and Public Health England, our guidance page will be updated accordingly.
